The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended USA Cricket's membership with immediate effect. Notably, the governing body had given USA Cricket a three-month extension in June 2025 to clear the mess. However, despite that, the USA's repeated and continued breaches in ICC Code of Conduct were the last nail in the coffin. The decision to suspend was taken at the ICC board meeting, which comes after a year-long review and stakeholder engagement.
For the unversed, USA Cricket's failure to implement a well-organized functional governance structure, make progress towards recognition as the National Governing Body of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (UPSOPC), and repeated offenses causing reputational damage were cited as primary factors for suspension. However, the USA's national teams will remain eligible to compete in ICC events, including the build-up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

A well-organized structure, backed by ICC management, will help reset goals, which is much needed for USA Cricket to have its membership restored. They will mainly include governance, operational, and structural changes, with time-to-time monitoring and supporting the transition phase.
